World Rivers Day is a global celebration of the world's waterways, observed every last Sunday in September. Established in 2005, it highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness while encouraging the improved stewardship of rivers around the world.
“Just as a drop of water in the ocean cannot avail much; but if a great river runneth into it, that maketh a great commotion.” – Jakob Bohme
International days are marked to educate the students on issues of concern, to address global problems and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. Each international day provides an opportunity to organize activities related to the theme and to create public awareness on the same. Organizations, governments, public and private sectors, schools, universities and citizens make international day a springboard for awareness raising actions.
We as a team observed World rivers Day during our virtual class by drawing beautiful pictures of rivers and discussing about the importance and raising awareness of rivers.
