The project aims to make an Automated Garbage Collector, a robot model to fulfill the task of collecting garbage at a place and then disposing it off at another place.
The robot garbage collection system consists of a set of arms connected to the motor. The mechanism will not operate for the entirety of the vehicle operation but will rotate only for predetermined set of conditions. It is created in a way that only garbage with similar dimensions to that of juice cartons, crushed papers, and other light-weighted items with height in between 5 to 10 cms will be collected. The entire mechanism is mounted on the front side of the base with an appropriate ground clearance. When the sensor detects an obstacle, image processing is used to categorize the object as garbage or a living organism. The object detection is used for the safety of animals, to cause no harm. Any garbage is picked up and dropped in a bin which is dropped behind the mechanism. The garbage is collected to the top of the bin. Once the bin is filled, the collected garbage is disposed of at a fixed place.
